Ciara O’Hara’s work uses imagery from nature, whilst also incorporating elements of nature-inspired man-made design. She likes to use imagery that has connotations and symbolism and re-work that in order to express her individual concerns and evoke an emotive response. Space in her work is often ambiguous, in a way, removing a sense of either the interior or exterior space. No connotations can be made when the subject belongs to an invisible or unrecognisable space, detached from its usual form; and it is in this environment that the ordinary can be looked upon anew.
O’Hara works across a range of media, including print, drawing, painting, photography and porcelain. The use of a variety of media allows each body of work to take on new connotations and subtleties that another medium wouldn't allow.
